THE ONE WHO PROVIDES

THE MYSTERY OF SOUND (TMS)

THE ONE WHO PROVIDES!

And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.
Genesis 22:14

The first covenant name of GOD is revealed in this scripture as the only one who provides. English speaking we say Jehovah Jireh. However, there is more to this pronunciation in Hebrew than the English meaning attached to it.

In Hebrew, the word that is translated "provider"  literally  mean "to see". From that meaning we get this beautiful thought that "when God sees He provides." We also get the wonderful concept that God's first covenant commitment is to provide. This is the root of His commitment: "He provides for His people".

JEHO'VAH is from the Hebrew substantive verb, the word denotes the Permanent Being, as the primary sense of the substantive verb in all languages, is to be fixed, to stand, to remain or abide. This is a name peculiarly appropriate to the "eternal Spirit, the unchangeable God, who describes himself thus, I am that I am. Exodus 3"

JIREH: Jireh/Yireh is indeed a hebrew word.

It is good i emphasize at this junction that the Hebrew language is a superior language (YES). It is fuller, more explicit, more clear and precise than let's say English, French, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa etc. For example, one word in Hebrew may mean 20 words in English.

The word Jireh has many meanings:

Abundance
To bless
To prosper
Success
Sustenance
Fulfillment
Protection
Shelter
Graciousness
Enjoyment
Rain (God will bring rain in the dryness)
Revival
etc.

When combined Jireh with Jehovah you have "Jehovah-Jireh" which literally means "Jehovah sees (provides)."

When you use Jehovahjireh, any of the meaning of Jireh above can come to your mind depending on your circumstance and your present need. However, everything is tied to God's provisional ability. And He may not provide until He sees it!

The outworking of God's provision for His people points to one person who is the fulfilment of all God's covenant commitments: "Jesus the Messiah".

In Genesis 22:7 Isaac asked his father Abraham for the lamb to be used for the sacrifice.
Prophet John told us in John 1:29 that Jesus is that lamb that takes away the sin of the world. Jesus is that ultimate provision we all need. He is the ultimate sacrifice for us, for all we will ever need for life and Godliness.

Prophet John was saying this is the very provision Abraham talked about when he said at Mount Moriah that "God will provide!"

Looking at Genesis 22 clearly especially verse 14, we will realize that at the time Abraham made the statement God will provide he had already slaughtered the lamb and the burnt sacrifice completed. I see that he was simply speaking to the future, because if his statement of God's provision  was to the lamb he already sacrificed he would have said The Lord Has provided. But he said the Lord "will" provide after the sacrifice.

Let me take a moment to say to you:  When you think about the name "The LORD Will Provide (Genesis 22:14)", Always let it carry your mind to that lamb through whom the provision was made. "The LORD will provide a lamb for the sacrifice: When Jesus came, He was the provided lamb, the lamb of GOD who takes away the sin of the world."

How did we know that? History reveal to us that Mount Moriah which Abraham went to offer Isaac to the Lord is the same mountain that occurs in the New Testament as Golgotha or Calvary. So, on the very mountain where Abraham made that original confession of his faith, "God will provide for Himself the lamb in verse 8, and where it was said later, in the mount of the LORD it will be provided in verse 14, two thousands years later, it was provided by the death of Jesus on the cross".

Mount Moriah  was a wilderness area in Abraham’s day (2000 BC), a thousand years later (1000 BC) King David established the city of Jerusalem there, and his son Solomon built the First Jewish Temple there.

2Chronicles 3:1
Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

In other words, ‘Mount Moriah’ in the time of Abraham was an isolated mountain top in the wilderness but 1000 years later through David and Solomon it became the central and capital city of the Israelites where they built the Jewish Temple. And to this very day it is a holy place for the Jewish people.

Now, consider the end of Jesus’ life on earth after His assignment. Where was he arrested and crucified? It was in Jerusalem (which as we saw is the same as ‘Mount Moriah’). It is very clearly stated during His arrest:

Luke 23: 7
When he [Pilate] learned that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at the time.’

Friend, Jesus was the ultimate provision of GOD for the need - not only of Abraham and of the Jewish people, but also the whole seed of Abraham, of all those who believe in GOD through Jesus.

A deeper revelation on this shows that Abraham and Isaac and the sacrifice on Mount Moriah are beautiful typology of what took place at Calvary. Abraham typifies God the father, Isaac typifies God the son and the fire for the sacrifice typifies the Holy Spirit, and the wood Isaac carried typifies the cross. Amazing!!!

There is the whole scene of the crucifixion in preview: Abraham, the father, offering his only son, Isaac; the fire of the Spirit needed to make the sacrifices possible; and the wood on which the sacrifice was to take place.

God is truly amazing!!!

We can sum up all this in one verse of the New Testament:

Romans 8:32
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
